Beyond Diversity 101 - Gender & Sexuality:
Beyond Diversity 101: Gender & Sexuality (BD101G&S) is an intensive, five-day workshop, based on, Beyond Diversity 101 first designed and facilitated by Niyonu Spann in 1999. This program is grounded in the belief that when it comes to gender and sexuality each of us seeks healing and wholeness, which necessarily calls forth our inner wisdom waiting to be remembered and reclaimed.
When we tap into and share this wisdom, we expand our capacity to meet the urgent challenges of our time with clarity, courage, and care. And as we move toward wholeness, our vision for justice and liberation necessarily emerges.

How do we excite our systems for powerful anti-oppression and liberation interventions?

What is at the root of the gender binary and how does it impact us as individuals, as families, and as a society?

What parts do we play in reproducing the world as it is, and what new choices are available, as we practice new skills and heal our separations?​

MIND. BODY. SPIRIT.
Lecture and presentation, large and small group discussion: these intellectual efforts are only one dimension of a holistically conceived curriculum. Integral and primary to BD 101 is the establishing a circle of mutual respect, good faith and a commitment to deep caring, which is able to sufficiently ‘hold’ the group through both the painful and joyful revelations that arise in the course of the workshop.

The intuitive is honored along side the intellectual. We especially tend to the body in the midst of this transformational learning. A massage therapist is on the BD101 staff during the course of the workshop, providing one-on-one sessions.
